Hey Mike, there is a lot of spin both ways on this data. Hard to know what to believe. What steered me is this one fundamental fact:

H1N1 never needed refrigerated truck trailers to hold dead bodies in NY and FL. And, covid19 had the disadvantage of the mask requirements and lockdowns.

Also, underlying conditions like obesity are not killers in themselves, so I'd consider the combination of obesity and covid19 in a death certificate a flat covid19 death considering obesity death usually doesn't end with a respirator. Additionally, I believe I read that Covid19 underlying conditions included things like hypertension and other things that likely weren't counted in H1N1 as factors.

Seems that H1N1 and Covid19 are two different animals. H1N1 didn't seem to focus on the old like covid19 seems to. Those are the ones more likely to have underlying conditions. In any case, I actually believe covid19's risk is at least an order of magnatude higher than H1N1.

If I get a minute I'll search to see what percentage of the H1N1 deaths also had underlying conditions, even though it targeted the younger which were less likely to have them.

If you have more data I'd love to hear it. I think there is less spin on the DEATH data, the infection data is scewed all over the place because the amount of testing directly controls the number of "infections". I'd also consider hospitalization data good data, testing numbers have nothing to do with that data.

All I know is there are not many I know who contracted "the virus"
