Before you get your new pet at the pet store, you should at least consider adopting a pet from an animal shelter.

One particularly good no-kill shelter is Fayette Friends of Animals. You can see the animals they have for adoption on their web site: URLs rewritten, remove parenthesis (http:)//www.fayettefriendsofanimals.net

I'll agree on Fayette Friends 100%. Flo and company have done wonders over the years and survived where a couple other noted "personalities" failed miserably.

Yes, I agree. Fayette Friends of Animals is a wonderful shelter with a great staff and wonderful volunteers who care deeply for all of the animals there!!!! They need more support, especially in these tough ecnomic times!!!
